One of the most frequently asked questions I get when I have inquires for baby photography houston from potential clients is if my packages include parent shots and they absolutely do! All new parents are more than welcome to be part of the newborn experience. Capturing yourself in your memories is the most important thing and most photographer mom’s can tell you to stop hiding behind the camera. Please, do your kiddos a favor and capture yourself with them so they can have a ton of memories to cherish in their lifetime. What kid does not love to dig in an old shoe box and look at old family photos, I did!

When I was a beginner in the newborn photography genre, parent posing was my nemesis. Why? because I could not get it “right”. There is a lot to parent, sibling and family posing than meets the eye. Currently, there are photographers that specifically do workshops for  family posing for newborn sessions because its hard to understand. Also, wrangling a toddler with the newborn sibling that they think its an alien abducting HIS parents is not the easiest of tasks. Over the years, I have managed to find my go to poses to add to my parent/family portion of the session. I have mastered ways and tactics to get toddlers to cooperate and found the most flattering angles for all the new moms.

Most of my clients are also drawn to the lifestyle look of my newborn sessions so you can always have the option to divide your session time if you opt by purchasing a newborn posed package. Here is an example of the parent portion of a newborn posed session.

First and foremost, I walk your home and find a huge window with pretty light and a light cream wall. Most of the time I work on the master bedroom. I start of with the lifestyle shots of both parents and baby in the bed.

I then shoot mom in the bed while we are there.

Dad is next, by himself, so we can get him out of the way. You know, most of them hate taking pictures ha!

Finally work with mommy and capture her best angles.
